Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Critical Care Unit (CCU) team in Arcata, California. This role offers an opportunity to provide specialized care to critically ill adult and pediatric patients within a dynamic acute care hospital environment.
The ideal candidate will be proficient in managing complex patient conditions, utilizing advanced monitoring equipment, and collaborating effectively with an interdisciplinary healthcare team. This position requires a commitment to patient safety, continuous learning, and delivering high-quality, compassionate care.
This is a 13-week contract assignment, working three 12-hour day shifts per week, with 36 hours guaranteed.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in the ICU/CCU, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
- Monitor and interpret vital signs, cardiac rhythms, hemodynamic parameters, and other physiological data.
- Administer medications safely and accurately, including titratable drips and vasoactive medications.
- Manage and operate critical care equipment such as ventilators, IV pumps, and cardiac monitors.
- Collaborate with physicians, residents, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Document all patient care activities, observations, and interventions accurately and thoroughly in the electronic health record.
- Respond effectively to emergency situations and initiate life-saving measures as required.
- Educate patients and their families on disease processes, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
- May occasionally float to other units within the facility to provide support and cover breaks as needed.
Required Qualifications
