Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse specializing in Critical Care (ICU/CCU) for a challenging 13-week contract assignment in Arcata, California. This role offers the opportunity to provide specialized care to critically ill patients within an intensive care or coronary care unit.

The successful candidate will be responsible for comprehensive patient assessment, implementation of critical care interventions, and continuous monitoring of patients with complex medical conditions. This position requires a commitment to delivering high-quality, compassionate care in a fast-paced environment.

This is a night shift position, guaranteeing 36 hours per week, with potential for occasional floating to support unit needs and provide coverage.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care to critically ill patients in the ICU/CCU setting.
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments, interpret diagnostic data, and formulate individualized care plans.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, including advanced IV drips and ventilator management.
  • Monitor vital signs, hemodynamic parameters, and cardiac rhythms, responding to changes promptly and effectively.
  • Operate and troubleshoot critical care equipment.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Document all patient care activities accurately and thoroughly.
  • Educate patients and their families on conditions, treatments, and discharge planning.
  • May occasionally float to other units to cover breaks and assist as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Current experience in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or Coronary Care Unit (CCU) setting.
  • Proof of negative TB screen within 12 months of contract starting date.
