The RN demonstrates a working knowledge of equipment, instrumentation, and medications. Tasks may be delegated to care team members based on their scopes of practice, with appropriate supervision of nursing care provided. Advocacy for the patient includes initiating actions to improve healthcare and ensuring informed decision-making opportunities. Culturally competent and ethical care is provided within legal standards. The RN coordinates care activities with other nursing staff, physicians, and allied health professionals. Effective communication skills are utilized for safe patient hand-offs and documentation. The RN contributes to a positive patient care experience through interactions with patients and families. There is accountability to address and resolve complaints effectively. Proficient written, verbal, and electronic communication skills are required.
