Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 3 years License: Active Illinois RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (PALS preferred) Must-Have: Experience with vent management, medication titration, arterial lines, central lines; familiarity with CRRT and EVD/ICP preferred Description: The unit is seeking an experienced RN for an Intensive Care Unit. This role involves managing a diverse range of patients with complex medical needs. Common diagnoses include various trauma cases, strokes, burns, and general medical and surgical patients requiring critical care. Nurse-to-patient ratios will be 1:2-3. RNs will be required to titrate drips, including all common ICU medications. A charge nurse will be available 24/7, ideally without a patient assignment but may take patients when necessary. Certified nursing assistants will assist with patient care, with staffing ratios varying based on patient needs. There will be hospitalists and intensivists available 24/7. Respiratory therapy equipment, such as vents and high-flow systems, will be present, and RNs will primarily troubleshoot any issues. RNs will be required to assess EKG rhythms as there will be no dedicated monitor tech. Shifts are 12 hours long, with a weekend requirement of every other weekend. Holiday coverage is expected every other holiday. RNs can expect to float to other units as needed, with a capped patient ratio of 1:4 if allocated to MedSurg. Professional scrub attire is required, with specific scrubs provided for burn patient care. Orientation specific to the unit will be provided as necessary.
