Job Title: RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Recent ICU experience Description: The candidate must have two years of recent ICU experience. Only candidates residing outside a 50-mile radius will be considered. Driver's license required upon submission. Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care. Refusal to comply will lead to termination of the contract. RN candidates must pass an exam during orientation. An open book exam on skills learned will be administered, and candidates need to achieve a 90% or higher to pass. The unit features 34 beds. Common nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:1-2 in ICU, 1:4-5 in PCU, and 1:5-6 in Med Surg. Common patient diagnoses include respiratory failure, ARDS, sepsis, stroke, and cardiogenic shock. Candidates will receive training for specific procedures and equipment in real-time. RNs are required to titrate drips, which may include vasopressors, paralytics, narcotics, sedation, and antiarrhythmics. Charge nurses are present on each shift and will also attend rapid response teams and codes. Nurse aides or patient care techs are available, with a ratio of 1:18. RNs are expected to troubleshoot respiratory equipment. No tele/monitor techs are present on the unit, and RNs must read and interpret their own strips. The management will create schedules based on unit needs. Weekend requirements are for every other weekend, and holiday requirements include working two out of three major holidays. RNs will float to all inpatient units, excluding specific units. The dress code is navy blue scrubs. Expect a fast-paced environment that requires critical thinking skills and a willingness to collaborate with the team. Attributes for success include the ability to ask questions, a positive attitude, and teamwork. Requests for time off must be submitted upfront, with a limit of seven days for the 13-week contract. The facility can cancel up to four shifts during a 13-week assignment. Experience with electronic medical records is preferred. BSN is required for submission. This is an acute care setting. Shift notes include 12-hour night shifts. Required certifications include ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS.
