Job Summary

Join our dedicated nursing team as an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse at an acute care hospital in Delta, Colorado. This role offers an opportunity to provide high-level care to critically ill adult patients requiring constant monitoring and advanced interventions.

The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing complex patient cases, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, and utilizing advanced life support techniques to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

This is a contract position designed for experienced critical care nurses seeking a challenging and rewarding assignment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct, comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit.
  • Monitor vital signs, interpret cardiac rhythms, and conduct thorough patient assessments to identify changes in condition.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and hospital policies.
  • Manage and operate specialized critical care equipment, including ventilators, IV pumps, arterial lines, and central lines.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, residents, and other healthcare professionals to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.
  • Educate patients and their families regarding treatment plans, procedures, and recovery expectations.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all patient care activities, observations, and interventions in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Respond promptly and effectively to emergency situations, initiating appropriate interventions and code procedures.
Required Qualifications
  • Current Colorado Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within three (3) months of hire.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification within six (6) months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum of two (2) years of recent critical care nursing experience.
  • Experience with telemetry monitoring.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification.
Skills & Competencies
  • Expertise in critical care patient assessment, intervention, and management.
  • Strong proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation and hemodynamic monitoring.
  • Competency in managing and troubleshooting critical care equipment (e.g., ventilators, arterial lines, central lines, CRRT).
  • Ability to administer and titrate vasoactive drips and other critical medications safely and accurately.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform effectively under pressure in high-stress, fast-paced environments.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
