Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: High Acuity ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year License: Active state license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Experience with PEG tube care and feedings Proficiency in CVC/PICC/Midline usage and care Experience caring for tracheostomy patients Ability to care for sedated and ventilated patients Experience with titrating vasopressors and managing sedation and pain control drips Description: The unit provides critical care for a variety of patients. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2-3. Common diagnoses include respiratory failure, post-surgical care, wound care, IV antibiotics, post-CVA, post-trauma, and cardiac patients. RNs are required to titrate various drips, including Precedex, Propofol, Fentanyl, Versed, Lasix, Insulin, Amiodarone, Nitro, Levophed, and Dopamine. There is a house supervisor available 24/7. Nurses provide primary care in the ICU setting. Clientists or intensivists are in-house during the day only. Telehealth support is available after hours. Respiratory therapy is available in-house 24/7. Nurses are expected to troubleshoot respiratory equipment. The unit is equipped with Phillips telemetry monitors that are centrally monitored. Shifts are designed as 12-hour shifts. Weekend and holiday rotations are required. ICU RNs may float to a medical-surgical unit if needed. Nurses are expected to wear scrubs and approved t-shirts. Orientation includes classroom training and shifts with a preceptor. The charting system used is EPIC. A BSN is not required for this position. The setting is within an acute care division.
