Travel Nurse RN - Intensive Care Unit (ICU) / Critical Care - $2,275 per week in Rapid City, SD

Provide direct nursing care to complex ICU patients including surgical, medical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma populations in a mixed ICU environment divided into specialty pods. Manage patients with diagnoses including ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, post-surgical, and multiple system trauma in a high-acuity, fast-paced critical care setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to complex ICU patients including surgical, medical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma populations in a mixed ICU environment divided into specialty pods
• Manage patients with diagnoses including ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, post-surgical, and multiple system trauma in a high-acuity, fast-paced critical care setting
• Administer and monitor IV medications including vasopressors, sedation, and paralytics; manage hemodynamic lines, ventilators, and telemetry
• Perform patient care with acuity-dependent ratios of 1:1, 1:2, or occasionally 1:3; collaborate with intensivists, APPs, respiratory therapy, and support staff
• Document accurately using Epic EMR; operate Alaris and Omnicell systems
• May be expected to precept students and float to adult floors, including Med/Surg or Telemetry, when staffing requires

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by or eligible for endorsement with the South Dakota Board of Nursing
• Completion of a board-of-nursing-approved nursing education program
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• TNCC certification required - candidates unwilling to obtain prior to start will not be considered
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience, excluding travel experience; candidates with at least 1.5 years of ICU experience (excluding travel) plus significant RN experience outside of ICU may be considered on a case-by-case basis
• Minimum one prior travel assignment required; first-time travelers will not be considered
• Epic EMR experience required
• Must reside at least 100 miles from any facility location to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Cardiac experience strongly preferred, including post-operative CABG/TAVR care (24-48 hours post-op)
• Experience with Impella, IABP, and CRRT strongly preferred
• Comfort managing a 48-hour/week contract schedule; candidates preferring fewer hours may be considered with manager approval
• Experience floating between ICU and ED settings
