Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years License: Active RN license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS Must-Have: ICU experience is required. RNs are required to titrate drips. Description: The position is for a Registered Nurse in the ICU. The unit has a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1 to 2. Common patient diagnoses include respiratory failure, atrial fibrillation with rapid ventricular response, suicide attempts, detox, and some medical-surgical overflow. Experience with titratable drips such as propofol, cardizem, insulin, precedex, and levo is necessary. RNs are responsible for monitoring and reading strips for both medical-surgical and ICU patients. There is one clinical assistant available most days. There is a hospitalist or intensivist available in-house. Respiratory therapy is also available 24/7. RNs may be required to float to medical-surgical units if census is low. Shifts are 12 hours, and every other weekend is required. Holidays rotate with regular staff. Self-scheduling and block scheduling may be considered based on preferences. The dress code is flexible, excluding camo or orange. Training on unit-specific policies and procedures is provided upon orientation. The charting system used is EPIC.
