Description:
Interview with unit leaders required.
2 years of recent ICU experience is required.
Drivers' license required and will be used for verification purposes.
Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care.
Refusal to remove nails will lead to termination of contract.
RNs must pass a pass/fail exam during orientation.
An open book exam on skills learned will be given.
Candidates will be provided with all necessary resources to pass.
A minimum score of 90% is required to pass; otherwise, termination will occur.
Common diagnoses and types of patients include adults and pediatrics over 15 years old.
Conditions treated include respiratory failure, ARDS, MODS, sepsis, stroke, and cardiogenic shock.
Training can be provided in real-time for various procedures and equipment.
RNs are required to titrate drips including vasopressors, paralytics, and sedation.
A charge nurse is present on each shift who will also take on assignments.
Nurse aides and patient care techs are available on this unit with a ratio of 1:18.
RNs are responsible for troubleshooting respiratory equipment.
Telemonitor techs are not available; RNs need to read and interpret their own heart rhythms.
Shifts are from 0630 to 1830 and 1830 to 0630.
The manager will create schedules based on unit needs.
Weekend work is required every other week.
Holiday requirements include working 2 out of 3 major holidays or as needed.
Floating to all inpatient units, excluding specific areas, is expected.
Scrub color is navy blue.
There are 2 shifts of unit/department-specific orientation.
This is a fast-paced unit with volume flexes.
Attributes for success include the ability to ask questions, a positive attitude, and critical thinking skills.
Collaboration with attending and student providers is emphasized for high-quality care.
RTO must be submitted upfront; additional time off will not be approved after submissions.
Cancellation policy allows the hospital to cancel up to 4 shifts during the assignment.
Charting System is EPIC.
A BSN is not required.
Trauma Level is 1.
Care setting is acute.
Division is nursing.
Shift notes indicate 12-hour nights.
Required certifications include ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS.
