Job Opportunity – Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) Registered Nurse – Columbus, Ohio

Start Date: October 5, 2026

Location: Columbus, Ohio

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour shifts (Day/Night rotating or Nights only); 2:1 patient ratio; 72-hour orientation; Rotating shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on departmental needs

Highlights
  • 24-bed Medical Intensive Care Unit specializing in complex, hemodynamically compromised adult and geriatric patients
  • Advanced critical care experience with mechanical ventilation, CRRT (NxStage machines), pulmonary artery catheter management, and continuous IV sedation
  • EPIC charting system required; experience with Alaris IV pumps, GE monitors, and Cortrak NG/Dobhoff placement
  • Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and physical therapy
  • Common diagnoses include ARDS, COPD, sepsis, oncologic emergencies, GI bleed, and drug overdose
  • Contract length variable; two pre-approved time-off periods available
Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years of current acute care experience in MICU or similar specialty (must be actively working in specialty within the last 12 months)
  • Previous travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
  • Active RN license (Compact or Ohio state license in hand at time of submission)
  • Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale
  • EPIC charting experience required
  • Proficiency with ventilator management, IV starts, arterial line management, central line care, vasoactive and cardiac drip titration
  • Experience with blood product administration, isolation precautions, ABG interpretation, and dysrhythmia management
  • Nursing education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • 2 professional references required (at least one from manager/director or formal supervisor; charge RN acceptable for second reference)
  • Ability to complete Ohio fingerprinting process urgently upon contract signing
  • Must not be a current employee of the health system; former employees eligible after 6 months separation

Additional Information
