Description

Job Title: RN - ICU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 12 Hours Experience: Preferred acute care facility experience License: Required Registered Nurse licensure in the state of practice Certifications: Required Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor Must-Have: Required AHA-ACLS or ARC-ALS, AHA-PALS or ARC-PALS Description: Delivers coordinated nursing care for a patient or an assigned group of patients according to established standards of care and the nursing process. Supervises and directs the activities of various levels of assigned nursing staff. Coordinates care with other disciplines while utilizing critical thinking, professional and supervisory discretion, and independent judgment. Collects relevant data pertinent to the patient’s health or situation. Analyzes the assessment data in determining diagnosis and care issues. Develops a plan that prescribes interventions to attain outcomes. Implements the plan, coordinates care delivery, and employs strategies to promote health and a safe environment. Evaluates progress toward attaining outcomes. Identifies outcomes for the patient or the patient’s situation. Collaborates with the team of patient, family, and healthcare providers in providing patient care in a safe, healing, humane, and caring environment. Provides learning opportunities for patients/family members and team members. Directly provides health information to patients, families, and treatment team. Participates in discharge planning in order to provide continuity of care. Delegates appropriately and coordinates duties of healthcare team members. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Commits to the safety and wellbeing of all associates and patients. Requires that all associates receive all required vaccinations as a condition of employment and annually thereafter, where applicable. Medical and religious exemptions may apply. Participates in E-Verify. All shifts may require being on call if the shift begins overstaffed. Nurses may float to other units regularly. Weekend coverage is required every other weekend. The medication system is Pyxis, and the documentation system is Cerner. The unit has access to a Vascular Access team during the day, while pharmacy and phlebotomy services are available 24 hours a day. Transportation is available for day shift only, and the RN must accompany the transporter for ICU patients. There is an Intensive Care Specialist on-site during the day and on-call at night. Additional unit information includes the use of ICU level equipment and the ability to manage titratable IV drips. Nurses should be able to manage patients with various critical conditions.
