Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Critical Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year License: RN License in state of employment or compact Certifications: BLS certification, ACLS certification Must-Have: Experience with Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps Experience with Impellas Experience with post-operative cardiovascular surgeries Experience with CRRT Description: The unit cares for patients with diagnoses such as DKA, acute respiratory failure, myocardial infarctions, CABGs, and those requiring ventilator support. It is a mixed cardiac and medical ICU. Guarantees for hours worked are available. Overtime is not billable until after 48 hours. The nurse must be competent in a similar clinical setting, practicing independently, and demonstrating awareness of all relevant aspects of patient care. The role involves providing routine and complex care with the ability to manage contingencies effectively. The nurse will make appropriate assignments and delegate tasks to other care providers as needed. Responsibilities include meeting expectations based on designated competencies, providing nursing care utilizing the nursing process, and addressing the psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families. Medications and treatments will be administered using appropriate protocols, with monitoring for side effects and effectiveness. Documentation of patient history, symptoms, medication, and care given is required. Assessing learning needs, providing education to patients and families, and identifying issues and resources are key responsibilities. All newly hired experienced nurses must complete a new hire orientation within their first 30 days of hire. New hires will be precepted by a designated trained staff member, ensuring successful completion of competency validation. Annual competency verification requirements must be fulfilled. Experience in a critical care setting is preferred, but new graduates will be considered. This position requires a commitment to providing high-quality care in a fast-paced environment.
