Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Critical Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 1 year of experience in related nursing specialty preferred. License: RN License in the state of employment or compact. Certifications: BLS certification required. ACLS certification required. Must-Have: Experience with intra-aortic balloon pumps, Impellas, post-op cardiovascular surgeries, and CRRT. Description: The unit provides care for a variety of patients, including those with DKA, acute respiratory failure, myocardial infarctions, CABGs, and those on ventilators. It is a mixed cardiac and medical ICU. The nurse practices independently and demonstrates awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation. Provides routine and complex care, incorporating long-range goals and plans. Continuously develops the ability to manage contingencies in clinical nursing. Makes appropriate assignments and delegates tasks to other care providers to help manage the clinical situation. Meets expectations of competencies as a leader within the nursing framework. Consistent with nursing standards of practice, provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients. Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families. Administers medications and treatments according to protocols while monitoring for side effects and treatment effectiveness. Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided. Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and caregivers. Identifies issues and resources to enhance patient care. All newly hired experienced RNs must participate in orientation within the first 30 days of hire. New hires will be precepted by a designated trained staff member and initial onboarding requirements will be validated through successful completion of competency validations. Completion of all annual competency verification requirements is expected. One year of experience in a critical care setting is preferred, but new graduates will be considered. The work schedule is from 7 AM to 7 PM.
