Description:
This is an opportunity for a Registered Nurse in a critical care setting.
The facility is a Level III Trauma Center and features a Level II NICU.
The unit comprises 17 beds with an average daily patient census.
Patient types and common diagnoses include general conditions such as sepsis, alcohol-related issues, drug overdoses, suicidal ideation, delirium, GI bleeds, and strokes treated with TPA.
Surgical cases include general surgery, open abdominal procedures, orthopedic surgeries, ENT procedures, and Client cases.
Cardiac and vascular cases managed include femoral-popliteal bypass, CABG, EVAR, valve repairs, post-cardiac catheterization care, abdominal aortic aneurysm management, and amputations.
No complex neuro cases are handled at this facility.
Patient ratios are typically 1:2, based on acuity levels.
Candidates must possess strong skills in ventilator management, invasive line management, and acute patient care.
Strong preference will be given to candidates with cardiovascular and cardiac surgery experience, particularly with IABPs and Impellas.
Support within the department includes a team of CNAs, receptionists, charge nurses, and intensivists available 24/7.
The educator and ICU-specific pharmacist are also part of the support staff.
The facility uses an Electronic Medical Record system, with additional technology and equipment such as specific IV pumps and medication dispensing systems in place.
Floating may occur within the scope of practice, including intermediate units and observation areas.
The scheduling process follows a 4-week cycle, with weekend rotation expected every other week.
Holiday expectations are one per contract, and requests for time off must be approved by management.
Scrub colors are flexible, with guidelines excluding camouflage, graphics, logos, and designs.
Travelers must be mindful that more than two sick calls may lead to discussions regarding the contract and potential termination.
