- Position: Registered Nurse – Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
- Location: Des Moines
- Contract Length: 13 Weeks
- Shift: Night Shift
- Schedule: 3×12
- Experience Required: 1 Year
- Weekly Pay:$2200 to $2380
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill adult patients in the ICU
- Perform thorough patient assessments and continuously monitor cardiac, respiratory, neurological, and hemodynamic status
- Administer IV medications, vasoactive drips, blood products, and other prescribed therapies
- Operate and monitor advanced critical care equipment, including ventilators, cardiac monitors, infusion pumps, and other life-support devices
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans
- Recognize changes in patient condition and respond rapidly to emergencies and code situations
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, recovery expectations, and discharge planning when appropriate
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Follow infection prevention guidelines, patient safety protocols, and hospital policies
- Deliver compassionate, evidence-based patient care while advocating for patients and families
Requirements
- Active Iowa Registered Nurse (RN) License
- Minimum 1 year of recent ICU nursing experience
- Current BLS Certification required
- Current ACLS Certification required
- NIH Stroke Scale certification preferred
- Strong knowledge of critical care nursing, ventilator management, cardiac monitoring, and emergency response
- Experience caring for high-acuity adult patients
- Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems
- Excellent communication, assessment, critical thinking, and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced critical care environment
