Must know how to titrate drips for medications such as Cardizem, dopamine, dobutamine, insulin, levophed, vasopressin, nitroglycerin, nicardipine, and neosynephrine. Description: This position is located in the Intensive Care Unit. The unit has 6 beds with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:3 for actual ICU patients. Common diagnoses include STEMI, third-degree heart block, COPD, CHF, pneumonia, sepsis, COVID-19, and influenza. Registered Nurses are required to titrate drips and attend team conferences during the day shift. Charge Nurses and House Supervisors are available. Nurse Aides are present on the unit with a typical ratio of 1:6. Physical, Occupational, Speech Language Pathology, and Pulmonary or Cardiac Rehabilitation services are available. Respiratory therapy and equipment are provided from NC to ventilators. Shifts include 7 AM to 7 PM and 7 PM to 7 AM. Weekend and holiday requirements typically occur every other time. Call or standby requirements are infrequent and not common. Floating to areas where the candidate has experience, such as Med Surg, ED, and BHC, may occur but is not required without experience. Scrubs can be any color, and close-toed shoes and good personal hygiene are necessary. The department will provide specific orientation with a binder given. The charting system used is EPIC.
