Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS Must-Have: - Unique qualifications include experience with the care of trauma patients. - Nurses must be capable of titrating drips and interpreting telemetry strips. Description: This role is in an ICU setting with patient ratios of 1:2-3, depending on acuity. Common patient diagnoses include DKA, sepsis, respiratory failure, cardiac issues, medical detox, and more. Nurses will collaborate with the emergency department, which oversees the ICU. No nurse aids or patient care technicians are available on this unit, so RNs will have full responsibility for patient care. Nurses are expected to handle equipment such as vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow oxygen, ensuring proper troubleshooting is performed. Teamwork, motivation, and the ability to coach in unsafe situations are essential attributes for success in this unit. Nights, weekends, and holidays will be part of the schedule as needed. Floating to medical-surgical units or the emergency department may be required for 1:1 patient care needs. The position does not allow for facial hair due to specific fit testing requirements for respiratory protection. RTO (request time off) must be provided upfront, with limited additional time off permitted. Candidates must meet a radius rule of 50 miles. Client policy allows for cancellation of shifts under specified conditions. The charting system used is MEDITECH.
