Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: ICU (Intensive Care Unit) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: 1 year(s) License: Yes Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS Must-Have: - BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS certifications - Experience with the care of trauma patients Description: This position is for an ICU Registered Nurse. The department provides care for patients in an intensive care setting. The unit typically has 4 beds. The nurse-patient ratio is 1:2-3, depending on acuity. Common diagnoses include DKA, sepsis, respiratory failure, and cardiac issues. RNs are required to titrate drips, as well as manage typical medications in an ICU setting. A charge nurse is not present on each shift; the emergency room oversees the ICU. There are no nurse aides or patient care techs on this unit. RNs will need to troubleshoot equipment such as ventilators and CPAP machines. Registered Nurses are required to read and interpret their own telemetry strips. Shift scheduling is completed by the director; self-scheduling is not an option. Weekend and holiday work is required based on the needs of the unit. Flexibility to float to medical-surgical units or emergency rooms for one-on-one patient care is necessary. Scrub color is navy. Successful candidates will exhibit coachability, motivation, an ability to address unsafe situations, and a strong team-oriented mindset. Candidates must live within a 50-mile radius. Requests for time off should be submitted upfront and additional requests may not be approved. The facility reserves the right to cancel shifts as needed during the assignment. The charting system used is MEDITECH. This position does not require a BSN. The trauma level for the unit is classified as CAH. The care setting is acute care nursing. Nurses are expected to be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
