This role involves floating between units as needed. The patient ratios are typically 1:2 or 1:1. Common patient diagnoses include sepsis, respiratory failure, and traumatic brain injury. Additional diagnoses include multi-system organ failure, stroke, GI bleeding, and complex vascular surgery. The nurse will care for patients with cardiac or respiratory arrest and multi-system trauma. The work environment includes interdisciplinary support from various teams including respiratory services, social services, and pharmacy. Candidates with specific advanced certifications are preferred. Strong clinical skills in various critical care procedures are essential. Candidates should be flexible and prepared to adapt to changing unit needs.
