Duties include assessing patient conditions and implementing care plans. Treating wounds and providing advanced life support is essential. Nurses assist physicians in performing necessary procedures. Monitoring and recording patient vital signs are crucial tasks. Ensuring proper function of medical equipment, including ventilators and monitors, is required. Administering intravenous fluids and medications is part of the role. Nurses collaborate with fellow team members in critical care. Responding to life-saving situations using nursing standards and protocols is expected. Acting as patient advocates is an important responsibility. Providing education and support to patients' families is a key aspect of the role. Critical care nurses may also care for pre- and post-operative patients. Some nurses may serve as case managers or in administrative roles.
