Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2+ years of ICU experience License: Michigan Certifications: BLS (AHA) ACLS NIHSS Must-Have: Comfortable with floating to ED and step down Description: This position collaborates with physicians to provide a plan of care that will return patients to optimal health. Nurses will provide bedside care and carry out medical orders. The role involves delegating to and overseeing the functions of nurse assistants and other nursing staff. Nurses will be responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of care plans. The position includes assuming a leadership role that integrates evidence-based knowledge into practice. Tasks include delegation and coordination of nursing care assignments. Nurses will facilitate or participate in patient conferences. Identifying and providing resources to meet patients’ ongoing and discharge/transfer teaching needs is key. Professional growth is encouraged by seeking out educational opportunities. Nurses will teach and guide both professional and ancillary personnel. Precepting and mentoring new employees and students is part of the role. Effective communication of relevant information in an understandable manner is essential. Strong organizational skills through effective planning are required. A strict attendance policy is in place to maintain staffing coverage and support patient needs. Attendance rules indicate that any nurse contractor who accumulates three attendance strikes will be terminated from their assignment. Extenuating circumstances may be considered in favor of the contractor.
