Provides patient care based on standards of care, protocols, and established policies. Respects each patient as an individual and fosters their sense of dignity. Provides patient and family education based on identified needs and readiness to learn. Collaboratively plans and prepares patients and families for discharge incorporating support systems. Delegates and supervises nursing interventions performed by others appropriately. Prioritizes patient care by seeking assistance as needed and recognizing emergency situations. Provides thorough, timely, and accurate documentation of all relevant data and interventions. Reports on assigned patients to ensure integration of services and continuity of care. Promotes learning for self and colleagues through teaching and attending development programs. Identifies risks to patient safety and opportunities to reduce healthcare errors properly. Recognizes ethical issues in care and develops plans to address them. Safely administers medications and intravenous therapy according to protocols. Assesses patient pain levels and reassesses effectiveness of pain control as necessary. Performs identification and interpretation of cardiac arrhythmias and EKG changes. Institutes, monitors, and documents thrombolytic and anticoagulation therapy. Demonstrates knowledge of mechanical ventilation and related patient care. Handles initiation, maintenance, and care of intubated patients, including suctioning and weaning. Interprets arterial blood gases and pulse oximetry accurately. Understands hemodynamic monitoring procedures and assists with critical procedures. Administers vasoactive medications safely, understanding their dosage, action, and side effects. Monitors patients in the immediate post-operative phase according to established standards. Handles potential problems and complications during recovery appropriately. Completes required medication reconciliation documentation. Implements components of clinical care bundles consistently and alerts management of deviations. Participates actively in multi-disciplinary rounds for planning and evaluating patient care.
