Must-Have: The candidate must be aware they may be asked to float across ICU, Medical Surgical, and Progressive Care Units. The candidate will also be asked to float to the Emergency Department as needed. The candidate must have experience taking higher patient ratios. First-time travelers are not accepted. Candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays. Floating is 100% required for all travelers. Description: This position is for a Critical Care Float Nurse. The schedule is three 12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30. The nurse will float between various units based on departmental needs. The patient diagnoses include ARDS, COPD, STEMI, NSTEMI, DKA, AKIs, UTIs, and Acute Shock. Special procedures may include Cath Lab, TR Bands, Sheath Pulls, EEGs, Cardioversion, and Stress Tests. Nurses must manage and care for ventilated patients and administer blood products. The unit uses various equipment like ventilators, Arctic Sun, and balloon pumps. The expected patient ratios are 1:2 in ICU and 1:4 in other areas. Candidates are expected to perform a range of essential skills and procedures relevant to critical care.
