Goal staffing is 4 RNs 24/7. Patient ratios are 2:1. Type of equipment includes cardiac monitors and ventilators. Documentation system utilized is Meditech. Self-scheduling is encouraged. Every other weekend commitment is required. Flexible scheduling options available. ICU staff may float to critical care or intermediate care areas when needed. Patient experience requirements include AIDET validation. Unit focuses on effective nurse communication with patients. Hourly rounding and bedside care conferences are part of care protocols. Procedures performed on the unit include ventilator care, therapeutic hypothermia, PCI/STEMI, invasive hemodynamic monitoring, and more. ICU RNs are responders for Code Blue and Rapid Response Team.
