The nurse will work three 12-hour shifts each week from 20:00 to 08:30. Floating to the ICU may be required as needed. The nurse will care for adult and geriatric patients. The patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:3, potentially increasing with lower acuity overflow. Every other weekend is required, along with holiday coverage as scheduled. The unit supports an interdisciplinary team including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and more. Patient diagnoses include respiratory failure, multisystem organ failure, post-cardiac catheterization, and more. Common procedures performed in the unit include chest tube insertions, bronchoscopy, and rapid sequence intubation.
