Description:
This position is for a general ICU in a level 2 trauma center.
The unit has a capacity of 29 beds.
Patient ratios are generally 1:1 and 1:2, with occasional 1:3 for patients ready to step down.
There are no CNAs, and only one telemetry technician available on the unit.
Equipment used includes Aleris pumps, GE monitors, Edwards EV 1000 and CCO, Primaflex CRRT, and Cardiohelp ECMO.
Documentation is managed through Meditech.
The position requires working three 12-hour shifts a week with every other weekend off.
Travelers float to the emergency department or step-down unit as needed.
On-call duties are expected only when census drops.
Weekend coverage is required every other week.
Procedures performed in the unit include intubations, central line placements, bronchoscopy, bedside tracheostomy, and PEG tube placements.
The average years of ICU experience among staff is 12.
Dress code consists of navy blue scrubs.
This unit features advanced capabilities, including CRRT, Impella, IABP, and ECMO.
A burn center has been operational since April 2019.
