Job Title: Clinical Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year of nursing experience, Level 1 Trauma experience, Cardiothoracic ICU focus experience preferred License: Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification required Must-Have: - Nursing Diploma or ADN/ASN from an accredited school of Nursing - Competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards Description: Provides clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting. Participates in identifying and meeting learning needs for self and attends education programs based on identified needs. Assesses readiness to learn of the patient, family, and caregivers. Evaluates expected patient outcomes and seeks guidance for plan of care revisions. Communicates relevant information to promote continuity of care. Demonstrates competence in care of patients with complex problems, including physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects of care. Organizes and prioritizes care according to patient and family needs. Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to evaluate patient care. Utilizes appropriate resources for patients with complex care issues and high-risk discharge planning. Develops professional growth goals and achieves them within the identified time frame. Promotes intra/interdepartmental collaboration and participates in performance improvement activities. Uses communication systems effectively and promotes cost-effective care. Recognizes data from complex situations to determine care priorities. Synthesizes assessment data into meaningful information prior to communication. Develops relationships with families to promote their ability to advocate for themselves and their patients. Collaborates with patients and families to prepare or update care plans. Identifies and addresses cultural and ethnic issues in planning patient care. Reads journals containing applicable studies and articles for practice improvement. Brings ideas and questions for group assessment of applicability.
