ICU Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Critical care experience Description: Hiring process includes candidate interviews. Candidates will interview with the clinical team. No unit manager involvement in the hiring process. Candidates must submit a valid driver's license. Candidates should be in-state for the week of orientation. Unit has 12 beds with a 1:2 nurse-patient ratio. Nurses are required to titrate drips. Common titratable drips include vasopressors, inotropes, sedatives, and analgesics. The charge nurse takes an assignment. There are no nurse aids on this unit. Clientists are in-house 24/7. Respiratory therapy services are available in ICU 24/7. Equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, high flow, and vents. Registered nurses are required to read their own telemetry strips. The monitoring system uses Philips technology. Self-scheduling and block scheduling are allowed. Full and part-time employees are expected to self-schedule a minimum of six weekend shifts every six weeks. Holiday work is required. Floating may occur based on need and could include floating into other units. Scrub color is navy blue. Unit-specific orientation will occur during the assigned week. The hospital can cancel up to four shifts during the assignment. Charting is done through a specified electronic system.
