Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (18:45 - 07:15) Experience: Minimum of 2 years in specialty required License: Compact or state license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS required; TNCC preferred Must-Have: 2 years of ICU experience required No first-time travelers accepted Strong clinical skills in critical care Description: Please ensure you are aware of the following: Upon accepting an assignment and starting your role, your unit manager may assign you to an "Emergency Team." There will be an expectation to stay until after the event passes or to be part of the relief team. Specific details pertaining to pay will be relayed on each emergency event, as impacts may vary. You accept these conditions by signing the travel contract. Be prepared to work 2 of the 4 designated holiday periods annually: Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's. Some units may require traveler coverage for non-paid holidays. Assignments are based on departmental needs and fair staff rotation. The average daily census for the unit is 44 patients. The patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:2. Weekend coverage is required every other weekend. The following skills are required: Accessing/Managing Ports Arterial line management Care of Ventilated Patient Central line care/management Infection Prevention Ventilator Management You should be comfortable with a wide range of critical care responsibilities. Be prepared to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team. References from previous managers or supervisors will be required for clearance to start the contract. Ensure your professional certifications are current and properly documented before submission. Resources who worked as permanent staff or in-house contractors must have a one-year separation before returning as a traveler.
