Description:
Please ensure your traveler is aware of the expectations related to emergency assignments.
Upon accepting an assignment and starting your role, your unit manager may assign you to an emergency team.
You will be expected to stay at the facility until after the event passes or be part of the relief team.
Specific details pertaining to pay will be relayed during each emergency event, as impacts vary.
You should not apply for this role if you are not comfortable with these expectations.
Candidates must be willing to work during 2 of 4 designated holiday periods annually.
Those holidays include Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s.
Holiday assignments are based on departmental needs and fair staff rotation.
The average daily census for the unit is 44, with a patient ratio of 1:2.
Weekend coverage is required every other weekend.
The unit does not accept first-time travelers.
Certifications such as TNCC are preferred, along with skills in various critical care procedures.
Experience in trauma level I or II settings is preferred.
Travel experience is required.
Skills required include:
Accessing/Managing Ports
Arterial Line Management
Blood Product Administration
Care of Ventilated Patients
Central Line Care/Management
Management of High-Output Drains
Titrating Cardiac Drips
Ventilator Management
This unit cares for adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.
Interdisciplinary support is provided by physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy.
Candidates must have references from previous supervisors for clearance to start the contract.
