Upon accepting an assignment, you may be reassigned to an emergency team when necessary. Your unit manager will provide specific pay details related to emergency events. By signing your contract for this position, you agree to report as assigned during emergencies. Do not apply for this role if you are uncomfortable with these expectations. The average daily census for the unit is 44 patients. The unit provides care for adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. The patient diagnoses include various critical conditions. Special procedures and equipment may be utilized in the unit. You will be part of an interdisciplinary support team including various specialists. There will be a requirement for weekend coverage every other weekend. Clinical skills may include managing ventilated patients and administering emergency medications. You should have experience in monitoring and interpreting vital signs and lab results. Candidates must maintain professional and up-to-date certifications. Patients may require complex care involving multiple systems. The environment is fast-paced and requires strong critical thinking skills. You will need to demonstrate reliability and adaptability in high-pressure situations. References from previous managers or supervisors will be required for clearance to start. Compliance with all unit policies and procedural protocols is mandatory. Candidates must be prepared for the challenges associated with critical care nursing.
