- Stroke experience
- Ventilator management
- Assist with intubation and extubation
- Central venous line management and placement
- Foley catheter management
- Tube feedings via NGT or PEG
- Ability to pass an EKG competency exam
Description:
The unit has 10 beds and treats a variety of patient types, including respiratory failure, stroke, sepsis, renal failure, diabetes, neuro cases, and surgical patients.
The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2.
There is no phlebotomy service on the unit, but an IV/VAT team is available for PICC and midline placements.
A charge nurse will take a patient assignment in addition to their leadership duties.
Support staff includes a respiratory therapist available 24/7 and hospitalists in-house.
The charting system used is Meditech Expanse, with Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing.
Travelers should expect to float to stepdown and med-surg units as needed to ensure comfortability.
Scheduling includes a weekend rotation of every other weekend, working four days one week and three days the next week.
Requests for time off are limited to one weekend per contract and a maximum of seven days.
Working two of three major holidays is required.
Professionalism is a mandatory requirement; cell phone usage in patient care areas is prohibited, earbuds cannot be worn, and eating at desks is not allowed.
Scrub color is pewter, with t-shirts in gray, white, or black.
Badges must be worn above the waist and visible at all times.
