Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: ICU Duration: 16 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience License: Active nursing license required Certifications: ACLS, BCLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Strong drip experience is essential. - Experience with arterial lines and titrating vasoactive drips. - Knowledge of conscious sedation practices. - Proficiency in telemetry and interpretation of dysrhythmias. - Experience in management of dysrhythmias and rapid response team protocols. - Skills in IV insulin protocols and blood product administration. - Competence in central line and peripheral line care/management. - Familiarity with chest tube management and non-invasive airway management. - Experience with isolation precautions and tracheostomy management. Description: This position operates similarly to an ICU. The nurse will care for patients post-rapid response team intervention. Diverse patient conditions include respiratory distress, unstable hemodynamics, withdrawal, GI bleeds, and post-operative recovery from various surgeries. Patients may range from adolescents to geriatrics, with a focus on stepdown ICU care. The unit typically maintains a patient ratio of 1:3-4. Floating to an adjacent unit may be required as needed. Weekend work is required every other week. Only one pressor drip per patient is allowed; additional drips may require transfer to a higher level of care. The unit uses bedside telemetry monitors and requires nurses to recognize and treat dysrhythmias. No ventilators are present on the unit, and nursing responsibilities include managing various infusion medications. Team support includes interdisciplinary collaboration with other healthcare professionals. Active participation in emergency interventions and protocols is expected. This role emphasizes high-quality patient care and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
