Job Title: RN - ICU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience required License: RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required Must-Have: - Strong ICU experience accepted for first-time travelers - Art line management skills - Vasoactive medication titration - Vent management and weaning with respiratory therapy support - Chest tube management - Critical thinking skills Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in an Intensive Care Unit. The ICU consists of 16 beds with an average daily census of 10 patients. Patient types include ARDS, sepsis, COPD, DKA, and stroke. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 2:1 for ICU patients and 3:1 for Intermediate Care patients. There will typically be 1 CNA assisting on the unit, occasionally 2. Support staff includes charge nurses and phlebotomy services. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7. Clientists and intensivists are present around the clock. Telemetry monitoring is provided, but does not cover CCU rhythms. The unit employs EPIC for electronic medical records. The IV pump used is Alaris, and medication dispensing is handled by Omnicell. Unit-specific equipment includes Bair Hugger, Verathon Bladder Scanner, and Blanketrol machine. Traveling nurses may float to Med-Surg units with a 4:1 ratio or assist in the Emergency Department as a resource.
