Travel Nurse RN - Intensive Care Unit (ICU) / Critical Care - $1,861 per week in Winston Salem, NC

This progressive care unit operates with ICU-level acuity, providing nurses the opportunity to manage complex patients including post-operative cases across multiple surgical specialties, patients requiring vasoactive drip titration, and those recovering from rapid response interventions. Strong critical care skills including arterial line management and titration of vasoactive drips (Cardizem, Nitro, Precedex, Cardene, Levophed, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Neo).

Job Opportunity – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Stepdown Nurse – North Carolina

Start Date: October 5, 2026
Location: North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 36 or 48 hours per week available, every other weekend required

Highlights:

• ICU stepdown unit with 20 beds and average daily census of 18 patients
• Patient ratio of 1:3-4 with complex acuity including post-rapid response, respiratory distress, and vasoactive drip management
• Epic charting system with Pyxis medication management
• 13-week contracts or longer available with potential to extend through February 2027
• Interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, physical therapy, and rapid response teams
• Patient population spans adolescent, adult, and geriatric age groups

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of progressive care, stepdown, or IMC nursing experience required
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale) certifications required
• Active North Carolina or Compact state RN license
• Strong critical care skills including arterial line management and titration of vasoactive drips (Cardizem, Nitro, Precedex, Cardene, Levophed, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Neo)
• Advanced telemetry experience with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Proficiency with IV starts, blood product administration, central line and PICC line management
• Experience with BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, chest tubes, and tracheostomy management
• Must pass EKG competency testing prior to start date
• Willingness to float to sister ICCU unit as needed
• First-time travelers accepted; local candidates welcome
