Start Date: September 14, 2026
Location: Winston-Salem, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 36 or 48 hours per week available. Every other weekend required. Patient ratio 1:3-4. Contract length 13 weeks or longer through February 27.
Highlights:
- 18-bed ICU stepdown unit functioning similar to an intensive care environment with advanced monitoring and interventions
- Diverse patient population including post-rapid response, respiratory distress, unstable hemodynamics, GI bleeds, and various post-operative patients (GYN, GU, GI, thoracotomies, neuro, orthopedic surgeries)
- Epic electronic medical record system with Pyxis medication management
- Strong critical care skills required including arterial line management, vasoactive drip titration, and advanced telemetry interpretation
- Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy
- Floating to sister ICCU unit as needed
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of progressive care, stepdown, or ICU nursing experience
- Current RN license (North Carolina or Compact state)
- ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications required
- Demonstrated experience with arterial lines and titrating vasoactive drips (Cardizem, Nitroglycerin, Precedex, Cardene, Levophed, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Neosynephrine)
- Advanced telemetry skills including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Proficiency with central lines, PICC lines, chest tubes, BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomy management
- Experience with blood product administration, IV insulin protocols, and heparin protocols
- IV start and conscious sedation experience required
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
- First-time travelers accepted
