Description: This position is for a registered nurse in the ICU. The unit has 16 beds with patient ratios of 2:1, and occasionally 1:1 or 3:1 depending on acuity and staffing. There is a unit secretary staffed during dayshift and occasional nurse externs working as techs. The type of equipment includes ventilators, EVDs, CRRT, SLED, and EV 1000. Documentation is done using a specific system. The schedule is created in 4-week increments, with a minimum weekend requirement of 4 weekend shifts per schedule. Self-scheduling is allowed to some extent, and the manager will adjust shifts to balance schedules. Contract labor is the first to float, and if staffing needs arise in other areas, contract labor is expected to float and accept the assignment. Providing attentive and compassionate care to patients and their family members is expected. The required uniform is navy scrubs for tops and bottoms.
