Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 19:00 - 07:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of ICU experience License: Active RN license Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: Active RN license. ACLS certification. BLS certification. ICU experience. Description: The unit has 16 beds with patient ratios of 2:1, and occasionally 1:1 or 3:1 depending on acuity and staffing. The unit is staffed with a secretary during the day shift and occasionally has a nurse extern working as a tech. The type of equipment used includes ventilators, EVDs, CRRT, SLED, and EV 1000. The documentation system in use is Meditech. The minimum weekend requirement is 4 weekend shifts per schedule, which is done in 4-week increments. There is self-scheduling available to an extent, with the manager balancing the schedule by moving shifts as needed. Contract labor is the first to float if staffing needs arise in other areas. Nurses are expected to provide attentive and compassionate care to patients and family members. Advanced skills required for procedures include insertion of central lines, arterial lines, lumbar punctures, chest tube insertions, and EVD insertions. The dress code requires navy scrubs, both tops and bottoms. Unit specific policies and guidelines are available upon request.
