Description:
Two years of experience in a hospital setting is required.
Must have an active nursing license in good standing.
BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
Current NIH certification must be obtained annually.
The unit has a total of 10 beds.
Patient ratios are 2:1 or 3:1.
Clinical Nurse Coordinators, RNs, PCTs, and Nurse Externs are part of the staffing.
The unit is equipped with Philips Telemetry, Baxter pumps, iMobile, vents, and glucometers.
The documentation system used is Meditech Expanse.
Scheduling requires working every other weekend with three 12-hour shifts.
Floating to PCU, 3rd floor, or ED may be required.
Preference given to candidates with experience in chest tubes, NG tubes, wound vacs, drains, post-dialysis assessments, central lines, blood transfusions, and ventilators.
Procedures performed on the unit include telemetry monitoring, paracentesis (physician led), BiPap, and therapeutic phlebotomy.
The unit is fully supported by a director, manager, and a clinical educator.
There is excellent interdisciplinary communication and collaboration with all providers.
Teamwork is celebrated, and staff recognition occurs bi-weekly for exceptional performance.
