Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00-19:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years required License: Active RN license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS required Must-Have: Active RN license ACLS certification BLS certification ICU experience Description: The ICU unit has 16 beds and operates with patient ratios of 2:1, with occasional 1:1 or 3:1 depending on patient acuity and staffing levels. There is a unit secretary staffed during the day shift, with an occasional nurse extern working as a tech. The unit is equipped with ventilators, EVDs, CRRT, SLED, and EV 1000 equipment. Documentation is done using the Meditech system. Scheduling requires a minimum of 4 weekend shifts per schedule. The schedule is organized in 4-week increments with self-scheduling options available to some extent. The manager may adjust shifts to balance the schedule as necessary. In terms of floating policy, contract labor is the first to float to other areas as needed. Patient experience is a priority, and caregivers are expected to provide attentive and compassionate care to patients and family members. Advanced skills required include procedures such as insertion of central lines, arterial lines, lumbar punctures, chest tube insertions, and EVD insertions. All staff must adhere to dress code requirements of navy scrubs for both tops and bottoms. The unit encourages an environment of teamwork and recognition for outstanding performance.
