Registered Nurse (RN) - Dialysis

Shift Details

• 3x12 Hour Shifts, 06:30 AM - 07:00 PM
• Rotating Weekends
• Float required between multiple locations within the region

On-Call Requirements

• On-call every third Sunday
• On-call two Saturdays every month

Patient Population

The position entails working with a diverse patient population, including:

• Patients with end-stage renal disease
• Individuals experiencing acute kidney injury
• Patients with metabolic imbalances
• Dialysis access complications
• Drug overdoses requiring hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis treatments
• Apheresis patients with neurologic, renal, or hematologic/oncologic diseases

Department Overview

The Hemodialysis Department operates 24/7, providing essential services including hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and apheresis treatments. Key features include:

• Nine dialysis bays and one isolation room designated for hepatitis B patients
• Telemetry monitoring capabilities
• A nursing station equipped with a central cardiac monitoring station and patient call system
• Comprehensive nursing care delivered around the clock by registered nurses supported by certified hemodialysis technicians and a nursing secretary
• Cardiac monitoring provided for patients on telemetry or requiring surveillance during treatments

Average Length of Stay

Patients typically stay in the department for an average of 4-5 hours for hemodialysis or apheresis treatments.

Treatment Locations

Treatments for hemodynamically unstable patients in the ICU are conducted directly in the patient's room, with a dedicated hemodialysis nurse present throughout the procedure. Peritoneal dialysis is also carried out in the patient’s room.
