Infection Prevention Program Manager
Setting: Level I Trauma, acute-care hospital
Schedule: Monday–Friday, eight-hour day shifts
Start Time: Flexible, but must arrive by 8:30 AM
Coverage: Entire hospital, including inpatient, outpatient, ED, surgery, procedural and ambulatory areas
EMR: Epic Bugsy
Call: None
Holidays: Not required
Weekends: Occasional review of construction activity
Radius Rule: 60 miles; driver’s license required at submission
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing, public health, epidemiology, medical technology or another healthcare-related field
- Certified in Infection Control (CIC)—required
- AHA BLS
- Active license must be submitted with the profile, when applicable
- Infection-prevention experience
- Experience with healthcare-associated and device-related infections
- Communicable-disease monitoring
- Surgical-site infection surveillance
- Prior leadership experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Manage infection-control and prevention activities throughout the hospital
- Perform device, environment-of-care and safety rounding
- Conduct surveillance for healthcare-associated, device-related and surgical-site infections
- Monitor communicable diseases
- Round regularly through inpatient, procedural and emergency departments
- Attend the daily 8:30 AM safety huddle
- Review infection-prevention considerations related to construction
- Help orient newly hired Infection Prevention staff as needed
- Collaborate with Quality Department and regional Infection Prevention leadership
The contractor will initially work independently in the department while the hospital hires two permanent Infection Preventionists. The position does not currently include direct supervision of other employees.
Dress Code
- RN: Navy scrubs
- Non-RN: Black scrubs
- Business casual is standard within the department; scrubs may be worn periodically
Cancellation Policy
The hospital may cancel up to four shifts during a 13-week assignment or three shifts for assignments shorter than 13 weeks.
