Job Title: Infection Preventionist Profession: Infection Preventionist Specialty: Staff Augmentation Duration: 51 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Experience: Experience as an infection preventionist in acute care infection prevention required. License: Bachelor’s Degree in an applied clinical science required. Certifications: Certified in Infection Control (CIC) required. Must-Have: Strong technical skills including proficiency in Google Suite. Description: Seeking candidates for a full-time Infection Preventionist. The position will report to the Chief of the Office of Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAI). The role includes serving as a subject matter expert for infection prevention and control. Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in nursing, public health, microbiology, clinical laboratory science, medical technology, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred. Experience as an infection preventionist in acute care infection prevention is required. Candidates should possess broad knowledge of infection prevention in congregate care settings. Previous experience in hospital-based Infection Prevention and Control programs is preferred. The ability to plan, implement, and evaluate infection control practices, policies, and procedures is crucial. Candidates should be able to perform on-site assessments in healthcare and congregate facilities. Strong technical skills in word processing, spreadsheet development, and database management are essential. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required, along with experience in reviewing and editing documents. Candidates should be able to organize and prioritize tasks efficiently. The position requires the ability to work independently and exercise strong judgment based on existing knowledge. Responsibilities: Provides Infection Prevention and Control support and tracks activities to ensure alignment with objectives and milestones. Creates and updates standard operating procedures and protocols for related activities. Participates in strategic planning and develops ideas to promote infection prevention efforts. Conduct onsite and teleconference assessments in healthcare and congregate care settings. Completes summary reports of assessments with facility recommendations and disseminates them within two weeks. Follows up with facilities to ensure recommendations are implemented. Provides education to licensing surveyors on infection prevention and control. Conducts infection prevention trainings on various topics using diverse educational formats. Provides consultation for outbreak investigations, particularly those in healthcare facilities. Interviews healthcare facilities about risk factors associated with outbreak or exposure situations. Provides expertise in drafting, reviewing, and editing technical reports and infection control guidelines. Educates local health jurisdictions and provides resources and training to build infection prevention and control capacity. Evaluates research and evidence-based practices and incorporates findings into routine practice. Serves as the subject matter expert for general infection prevention and control practices. Willingness to travel as needed is required. Additional duties may be assigned as required.
