Job Summary
This role is for an Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) in Sitka, Alaska, within a non-profit healthcare consortium dedicated to serving the health interests of the region's residents. The Infusion RN provides specialized professional nursing care across the lifespan, focusing on the safe administration and monitoring of intravenous therapies, biologics, blood products, and other specialty infusions.
The successful candidate will utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, ensuring high-quality, culturally sensitive, and patient-centered services. Key responsibilities include comprehensive patient education, proactive management of potential infusion reactions, and seamless coordination with providers and pharmacy services to optimize patient outcomes and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care.
- Implement and evaluate nursing interventions and patient responses.
- Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately per provider orders and policy.
- Provide safe administration and monitoring of intravenous therapies, biologics, blood products, and other specialty infusions.
- Recognize changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate interventions or escalation of care.
- Provide patient and family education related to care, medications, and discharge needs, specifically for infusion therapies.
- Manage infusion reactions effectively and coordinate with providers and pharmacy services.
- Exercise independent nursing judgment in determining appropriate nursing actions, interventions, and priorities, and in identifying when consultation, collaboration, or escalation to a licensed independent provider is required.
