ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled ICU Registered Nurse to join our team in a fast-paced, Level III Trauma Center. This 20-bed Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) provides care for a diverse range of adult patients, addressing critical conditions such as substance abuse and overdose, severe psychiatric disorders, diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), sepsis, gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding, respiratory failure, cardiac arrest, renal failure, and cardiogenic shock. Our team is supported by attending physicians and residents available on-site 24 hours a day.

Schedule and Requirements

• Full-time position: 36 hours per week, with rotating shifts required
• Rotating Day shifts include: 7a-7p, 11a-11p, and occasional Night shifts: 7p-7a
• Floating to other Medical/Surgical Units may be necessary
• Patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:2 or 1:1 for high acuity cases; 1:4 or 1:5 when floated

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of continuous MICU experience required
• Ability to read telemetry strips is essential
• Active Massachusetts RN License required
• AHA BLS and ACLS certifications are mandatory
• Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems, specifically EPIC, is preferred

Responsibilities

As an ICU Registered Nurse, you will:

• Provide compassionate and comprehensive care to critically ill patients
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, particularly those requiring acute interventions
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement patient care plans
• Educate patients and their families regarding condition management and recovery plans
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols and best practices in the ICU setting
