ICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Massachusetts
  • At least 2 years of recent Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nursing experience
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications
  • Epic electronic medical record experience required
  • Ability to float to medical-surgical units when needed
  • Willingness to float to an affiliated hospital as needed
  • Successful completion of required onboarding and competency assessments, including an arrival assessment and Relias testing
  • Strong critical thinking, prioritization, clinical judgment, and communication skills

ICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in the ICU during 12-hour night shifts
  • Monitor patient conditions, recognize changes in clinical status, and initiate appropriate interventions
  • Administer medications and treatments safely while following critical care protocols
  • Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to support individualized care plans
  • Accurately document nursing assessments, interventions, and patient responses in Epic
  • Support safe patient transitions, discharge planning, and continuity of care
  • Float to medical-surgical units or an affiliated hospital location when operational needs require
