ICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

  • At least 2 years of recent emergency department and/or ICU nursing experience
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure and eligibility to practice in Connecticut
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications
  • NIH Stroke Scale certification, as required for the assignment
  • Recent experience using EPIC electronic health records
  • Ability to adapt quickly and provide safe, high-quality patient care across ICU, intermediate care, and medical-surgical settings
  • Availability to participate in rotating weekends, holidays, and additional hours as needed for unit coverage

Critical Care Registered Nurse Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to acutely and critically ill patients
  • Float between the ICU, intermediate care unit, and medical-surgical unit according to patient-care needs
  • Assess patients, identify changes in condition, and promptly communicate clinical concerns
  • Administer medications and treatments while following evidence-based standards and patient safety protocols
  • Collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate individualized plans of care
  • Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in EPIC
  • Support safe patient transitions, patient education, and discharge planning when appropriate
  • Participate in scheduled weekend and holiday rotations and provide additional coverage when needed
