ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Join our dynamic team as an ICU Registered Nurse, where you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment. We are looking for dedicated and experienced nurses to support our Intermediate Care Unit.

Job Details:

• Target Patient Ratios: 1:3-4
• Contract Length: 13 weeks or longer, available through 2/27
• Shift: 12-hour nights (18:45 - 07:15)
• Hours: Options for 36 or 48 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Floating: Required to sister unit as needed

Required Skills and Certifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience
• First-time travelers accepted
• Experience with arterial lines and titration of vasoactive drips
• Telemetry skills including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with Rapid Response Teams and IV insulin protocols
• Blood product administration and central/peripheral line management
• Management of tracheostomies and non-invasive airway management
• Knowledge of isolation precautions
• ACLS, BCLS, and NIH certifications required

Patient Population:

The unit accommodates various patient diagnoses, including but not limited to:

• Respiratory distress
• Unstable hemodynamics
• Withdrawal symptoms
• Gastrointestinal bleeds
• Post-operative care for GYN, GU, GI, thoracotomies, neuro, and orthopedic surgeries
• Complications from pre/post-operative OB procedures

Special Equipment and Procedures:

The unit utilizes a range of specialized equipment, including:

• Bedside telemetry monitors
• A-lines and BIPAPs
• Chest tubes and Trach management

Resource nurses must be equipped to recognize and manage dysrhythmias effectively. Note that the unit can administer only one pressor drip per patient; additional support will necessitate transfer to the ICU.

Orientation and Training:

• Hospital orientation during the first week; attendance at daily classes is mandatory
• Passing EKG testing is required prior to starting in this specialty
