ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking dedicated ICU Registered Nurses to join our team. This position involves working in a Level III Trauma Center’s Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) and requires a commitment to patient care and teamwork.

Unit Description

The MICU consists of 20 beds and provides care for a diverse adult patient population with various conditions, including but not limited to:

Substance Abuse/Overdose
Severe Psychiatric Conditions
Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
Sepsis
Gastrointestinal Bleed
Respiratory Failure
Cardiac Arrest
Renal Failure
Cardiogenic Shock

Our team includes attendings and residents present in the unit 24 hours a day, ensuring comprehensive care for our patients.

Responsibilities

Provide advanced nursing care to critically ill patients in the MICU.
Monitor patient vital signs and interpret telemetry strips.
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
Float to medical/surgical units as required, managing up to 4 or 5 patients.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.

Qualifications

Minimum of 2 years of continuous MICU experience required.
Experience in a similar Intensive Care setting preferred.
Current active Massachusetts RN License.
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.
Ability to read telemetry strips competently.

Work Environment

This role requires flexibility with rotating shifts between days and evenings. Night shifts will remain consistent. The RN-to-patient ratio is generally 1:2 or 1:1 for high-acuity patients and 1:4 or 1:5 when floated to other medical/surgical areas.
